Half Year Developments!

Here is what Claire is up to after her first 6 months on earth:
  • Rolling all over the place. She really enjoys tummy time now and rolls to her stomach whenever she is able to.
  • Has several new faces. My favorite is the scrunch face with pursed lips. We are trying to capture on the camera but have been unsuccessful, it is very elusive.
  • She's eating cereal, butternut squash, bananas, carrots, green beans. She is still not the greatest eater, and with these solid foods she much prefers blowing bubbles in them to actually eating most of the time. She is a turkey.
  • She has found Bud, but still doesn't show a huge interest. Kaitlin is much more fun to watch anyways.
  • She is sitting up on her own and likes that position as a second favorite behind her tummy.
  • FINALLY STARTED SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT! I never would have dreamed it would take this long. I think it all stems back to her pickiness with eating though and probably never getting really full. The addition of solid food has seemed to help. This of course has been thrown way off with her recent sickness though.
  • Has somewhat developed a morning (9ish) and afternoon (3ish)nap. Sometimes sneaks in a third one if we're in the car too long.
  • Continues to speak dolphin, but has added some "gaa-gaas" and "baa-baaas."
  • Still has the fattest calves of any human on earth. This poses a constant sock-loss risk as her feet are pretty small. We're either cutting off her circulation with tight ones or losing them, there is no happy medium. Side note, maybe I should invent a baby sock that is graduated, slightly bigger on top and tighter and smaller on the foot. But still tight on top, not like toddler socks which are loose. None of you steal my idea. On second thought, maybe this wouldn't be a big seller b/c most kids don't have sausage rolls for lower legs.
  • No signs of teeth yet, but has begun chewing on things a lot more. Could be close. Still no drooling though, quite different from her 3-outfit-a-day sister at this same age (K had 2 teeth at 6mo).
  • She's still a very laid back baby. I feel bad b/c she really has to cry and hang out a lot more by herself than K ever did. But she's still soooo happy whenever you come back and gives you several squeals and smiles. She has started a bit of the separation anxiety though, if you are playing with her and leave her line of sight she hits the panic button. Not looking forward to this stage.
  • Stats: 16lbs 13oz (50-75%), 25.75in (50%), head 75-90%. Petite little thing comparatively.

LOL!!! She's got her great-grandma's calves; we can only hope she grows into them! Her Pop got them too but he didn't, otherwise he'd be 6'3" :-)

I love her 'do in the first picture! I'm envious, I can't get Kate to keep a bow in her hair to save my life these days. Claire's so cute, glad to hear she's sleeping through the night for you!

I can't believe she's already 6 months! And these very special years of ours are just really flying by. At least we will have these blogs and pictures to remember everything by! I am so glad she's finally sleeping through the night for you. Love both of the pics, she looks so happy and such a beautiful smile.
