7 Months!

It's already been an exciting Memorial Day weekend for us! We've finally been able to see what our little girl looks like and my weren't we pleasantly surprised. We had a feeling she might have a full head of Indian hair, like her daddy, but instead we found a chubby-cheeked baldy that is clearly taking after her mommy with long, gangly arms and legs! The technician even referred to her at a chunker! During the visit, Summer began to feel sick, and had to roll over on her side to relive pressure from her main artery (which was causing her to be light headed). This actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise as some of the best pictures we got were from the side angle! The 4D experience was worth every penny and then some. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested as you can't put a price on being able to see your baby inside the womb like that.

If you've had a chance to review the pictures, please feel free to comment here on this site. We also have 30 minutes DVD of the experience that I am trying to figure out how to upload. It's even more remarkable than the pictures because you can actually see her moving, smiling, opening her eyes, etc in that 4D view.

4D Ultrasound

Tomorrow we have a 10am appointment for the 4D ultrasound in Southlake. It's been almost 8 weeks since we last got to see her, so we are both VERY excited. Keep your fingers crossed that she'll be facing out so we can see what she looks like! We will get a dvd of the whole experience, electronic copies of pictures and several prints while we're there. I'll post some pictures and/or links at some point tomorrow.

I still have 4 years of eligibility left, coach....

So, I've been in Durham, NC since Monday afternoon attending a leadership retreat sponsored by the Firm. It's pretty interesting, but I am getting tired of talking about my feelings, values, goals, etc. Yesterday, we got to go participate in basketball event at Cameron Indoor Stadium where the Duke University Blue Devils play. It was given by the Duke basketball coaches and was essentially a metaphor for the subject matter of the retreat. We ran drills, learned an actual Duke play and scrimmaged a little at the end. In honor of the Larry Bird, Steve Nash and Jeff Hornacek I jacked a sweet 18 footer during the scrimmage...nothing but net, baby. As I jogged back down court, I gave the guy guarding me a little Dikembe Mutombo finger wag and said (in perfect Terry Tate "Office Linebacker" speak) "It's GONNA BE A LOOOOOONNGG DAY!!"

Here is a link to Terry's videos, to give you flavor (please pardon the language, but you do need sound to truly enjoy the greatness): LB

If you want more Terry Tate, just Google him....he's everywhere and they have several other videos.

We also got to keep the reversible practice jersey's they let us use, so that was pretty cool...even though I am a North Carolina Tar-heel fan. As much fun as this has been, I will be happy to get back to my girls and the dogs on Friday afternoon. The belly pic Summer posted was great, but I can only imagine what it looks like in person.

Home Visit

Came home this weekend to visit with the fam since my brother is in town from Denver (who I haven't seen in 2 years!) He's getting in to town tonight with his girlfriend, but I came in yesterday to spend some time with friends. Last night was fun - a girl's night over at Amy's house. She's due on May 26, but she's ready to go any day now! Poor thing has been walking around everywhere trying to get her little girl Avery to make her big appearance, but so far she is being quite stubborn. I told her we could all push on her belly last night to try and help things along but she didn't seem too keen on that.

Our little girl was extremely active yesterday, showing off for the grandparents and friends alike. I even woke up in the middle of the night to some acrobatics and some HUGE hunger pangs, but I think she may have overexerted herself because she's been very quiet today. I'm looking forward to the third trimester though. 91 days to go! Wow that's scary!

27 week update

Summer has been in Houston all weekend and I've been holding down the fort in Irving. She will post more later, but I wanted to go ahead and post the 27 week update.

Happy Mother's Day!

My first official Mother's Day was great! Scott couldn't wait until today to give me my gift so I opened it last night - 2 cute t-shirts from a store called Baby Style. The first one I wore today - it says "Body By Baby" and the second is this tank top:

He did good! We celebrated this morning with a nice breakfast at Cafe Brazil, then church (where lots of people wished me Happy Mother's Day - so fun now that people can actually tell I'm pregnant!) and then we went to Stan & Cindi's for burgers and sitting by the pool. Stan & Cindi got me a gift too! This Mother's Day thing is great! But I think the best gift will be when I get to meet our baby girl in 14 weeks! We're officially down to a double-digit day countdown...98 days to go! Woohoo! Here's what's going on with her this week:

She's a maniac, maniac on the floooooor!!

This is the song that plays in my head whenever she's in there going crazy. That is just a random aside I thought I'd share.

Monday night we went out to dinner and to the Damien Rice concert at the Majestic in downtown. Great food, great concert, all around a good night. Until about 2am that is. I woke up to my stomach turning just as a huge boomer was coming through. I think Chunky-butt has worn off on me in some way and I now have thunderstorm anxiety myself. Anyway, I ran into our guest bathroom just in time to puke up aforementioned delicious dinner. And I think the jolt of adrenaline that must've come when I dashed for the bathroom, combined with the huge thunder that was going on outside really woke her up, because she was rolling and tumbling around in my belly for a good 30 minutes afterwards. All the while singing "Maniac, MANIAC on the FLOOOORRRR!!"

Week 25

As a follow-up to Summer's previous post, it most certainly has been a very active week for our little girl. After reading the calendar write-up for the 25th week, I think I know why.

On Saturday morning, we went to Britt and KC's lake-house. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate enough for us to take the boat out, but we had a great time hanging out and being lazy. At one point, KC was even able to feel the baby kick, but this was no ordinary kick. According to Summer, it was the hardest kick to date! The baby continued to be active Saturday afternoon and Summer even felt her do a flip. All of this is consistent with what the calendar says that most babies will flip from breech to head-first this week! Pretty crazy stuff and even more crazy that we are 5 days away from being in double digits until her birthday!!

Active Week

Well, I'm definitely starting to feel our little bean move around more often. It used to just be after I had sat down for a while and I really had to pay attention to feel her, but now I'll be up walking around and she'll start kicking. Just this morning I was in a coworker's office, talking about serious work issues, and she started rolling around and stomping on my innards. I guess she has no patience for hearing about Maverick's trailing short alpha calc, but it sure makes it difficult for me to pay attention when she's in there having a party! Speaking of partying, Jess sent us this this morning, and I think this might be what she does:
