Lesser known dwarves
K has begun an obsession with all things princess. Part of that obsession is carrying around her 6 Little Golden Book stories with her wherever she goes (Little Mermaid, Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast). We read 2 every night before bed, but then some have to be banished from her room because they are too scary. For instance, the "dragon lady" in Sleeping Beauty is not allowed in bed with her after we leave the room. The Beast has gone back and forth between friend and foe. We don't actually read the books to her yet, both because she doesn't have the patience (they're a bit wordy for a 2yo) and because I think some of them are way too scary. Like Snow White - the Queen sending someone to kill her. Come on now. One thing that cracks me up every time though is how she interprets the stories we do tell her, and the characters in it. For instance, did you know there are dwarves named Vegetable, Snoozy and Doozy? And that the genie in Aladdin is named "Happy Genie"? And that the stepmother in Cinderella is actually "so nice"? I love her innocence and her certainty in the way she perceives the stories. I hope she holds on to that for a long, long time.
