Galveston Trip 2010

We had such a fun weekend in Galveston with Nana and Pop! We got to Galveston Thursday morning around 11 and hit the beach right away. K was scared of the waves, so we headed over to the pool to do our swimming that day. Friday we went to Palm Beach at Moody Gardens - it was awesome! Such a fun place for this age group with a white sand beach, big pool, 2 slides and splash pad for the crawlers. K was very brave and rode the slides by herself and was basically running amok all day. C enjoyed the splash pad and hanging out in the shade with Nana. Good times. Then more beach and kite time Friday afternoon.

Saturday we spent the morning at the beach, where K conquered riding the waves in her inner tube, and built a moat and pool with Scott. C liked crawling and splashing right where the tide came in, but wasn't a huge fan of being fully in the water. I think the sunscreen was stinging her eyes b/c they were pretty red and swollen and she wasn't too happy. But once she got back to the shade and the blanket and had some snacks she was as good as new! Both girls got quite tan (even with the numerous sunscreen applications) and I got a nice burn on my back. Saturday night we headed in to see the Seawall and to go eat dinner on the Strand. We stopped and had ice cream and got some candy after dinner, then watched the street guys doing the spray paint art thing, which K loved. C again was not a fan of being out "sooo late" (7pm) so we headed back while Nana and Pop shopped a bit for some souvenir t-shirts for the girls.

I would say the highlight of the weekend for K was the water park at Moody Gardens and all the tons of motorcycles we saw all weekend all over the island. She was obsessed with waving at them, yet scared at the same time. Really a love-hate relationship. C's highlight was the stairs and the "crawl and scream game" she and K played upstairs where the acoustics were great. We are so thankful to Nana and Pop for a great weekend, and look forward to next year! As always, here are some pics (link).
